The Importance of Sensing

I have a very strange habit of religiously studying successes and failures. Actually mostly failures. I have this firm belief (note that I would say it is a belief, I am not sure if it is actually true) that there is a cause behind everything, that, be it directly or indirectly, one thing lead to another. I know, I know, this could be very wrong. Like, isn’t that scientists told us that there are things that happen randomly, without explanations? like the double slit experiment? Now, that is all true but, in real life, I am talking like work, personal life, health, etc., a lot of things that happened to us, are somewhat related to some decisions we made in the past. Might not be a direct co-relation, but somewhat related. Like we feeling heavy and tired – could be related to those late night sleeps, overweight body, lack of exercises, messed up diets…. you know what I mean.

Technically, if one take all his ego away, just humbly, with an open mind, study what happened before — while that would not guarantee success, it probably would help you avoid a lot of mistakes that people made in the past, and that is a lot. Most of us, I am no exception, live our lives making the same mistakes that someone else did in the past, after all, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

Our lives are so short that I think we have to make better decisions or else life will decide for us. In the last 5 years or so, if I am honest with myself, I think I did not learn fast enough, did not do important and meaningful things enough, and did not PUSH myself to the absolute max enough. Too much handling the day-to-day, not enough learning and improving enough. For one thing, I learnt a lot these 5 years but I did not write them down enough, because I was too busy, too busy with the day to day, like for example, the other day this week I was shooting a video teaching my staff how to fix their receipt printer in store (featured image on this blog), are those necessary? maybe, but I am afraid that that would be my life, that is, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean I hate my colleagues and I don’t want to help them with their tech issues, but I kind of want to be making more impact to the world, that is, helping people around me. No, I know I probably aint the guy that can change the world, but I at least can, maybe, do some good for people around me. Be a good impact to the society, So I have to put my time in the right places, and I need to have some form of things set up to handle the day to day, because going back to the topic that I started off with in this blog post, my strange habit of studying successes and failures sort of taught me one thing that it is critical to have some form of systems in place. This is critical to all successful examples.

And also, talking about the successes and failures, the more you study, the more you sort of will develop a sense of what works and what not, now keep in mind, it is not like this MUST work, or this MUST NEVER work. but it is like what worked generally. I would say when you develop this sense, it is great, because not only it works on improving yourself, but you can see a person, and you can assess critically whether he is indeed a great guy or a guy full of fluff.

Lets do this, lets do this. We can do it. Thanks for reading.
